10 actors from the U.K who should have been in Harry Potter

Harry Potter was a international sensation. Not only was it famous for making kids go crazy for weird stuff like books, but it also attempted to employ every actor from the United Kingdom in some form. They were so wide-reaching in their attempts to get everyone who spoke English is a more refined way to be in their movies that you can’t help but wonder why some actors didn’t make the cut. While contemplating this question in the therapeutic confines of my shower I came up with a list of actors who should have been in the movies, and what they might have done. Continue reading

100 Reasons Why I Love Movies: Part 6

As I eclipse the halfway mark I’ve found I am starting to be less casual with my picks. Considering I only have 50 left I want to make sure I include all the movies I have stories about or that have touched me in some way. It really shouldn’t matter THAT much, because this isn’t entitled “The Only 100 Reasons Why I Love Movies and All the Rest Are Shit.” But alas it does mean a lot to me. So why I’ll try to finish this series in the next month or two, don’t be surprised if there is a delay (and it’s more than likely not due to laziness, but the madness of trying to include the most important stuff).

I only have three “rules” that I’m trying to follow with this list and they are there just to make it have more variety:
1. Try not to repeat a movie more than once.
2. Try to have two listings that aren’t individual scenes per post.
3. Try to include 1 guilty pleasure per post.

Fair warning: There are spoilers in my description paragraphs and the videos themselves but I will try to keep the bold titles spoiler free so you can easily skip one where you think I might ruin something.

100 Reasons Why I Love Movies: Part 5

The clamor for the return of this series has been deafening so I’ve dug up of 10 more cinematic gems that have been both the ignition and fuel for my movie passion. These may not all be my favorite movies, but they are great moments that for one reason or another have stuck with me.

Ultimate Team: NBA

More than once I’ve played the game where you make up a team if you could pick anyone in the game. Sometimes the parameters change regarding who you can pick, but the results are often similar. The majority of the time people pick the best players from the pool of players available with one or two of their favorite players that aren’t necessarily amazing thrown in as well. The problems I have with this way of doing this (yes I have problems with a game very few people outside of nerds on forums have even participated in) is that team chemistry is rarely taken into account and teams have too many of the greatest players so the lists can be repetitve and boring. 100 Reasons Why I Love Movies: Part 4

It’s part 4 of the greatest list of movie moments ever assembled. Even the mucky-mucks of Hollywood have been sitting on the edges of their seats waiting for my continuation of this list. Well, the wait is now over and you can revel in my personal reveling of other people’s genius.

How I Would Improve the Greatest Thing in the World (Not Sliced Bread)

I’ve been on Facebook for a long time. Not, Harvard student in 2004 long time, but a long enough time where I had to type thefacebook.com and actually be a college student with a college e-mail address to join. I’m not mentioning this as some really lame brag, but to illustrate how I’ve seen the site change (for better and worse) over the years. Continue reading

100 Reasons Why I Love Movies: Part 3

Part 3 of this Ken-Burnsian epic of me trying to show people just why I spent so much of my free time watching movies. Featuring (in no particular order) some stellar lines, moments, and subtleties that have stuck out to me as the cream of the crop (at least of the crop I can remember).

I only have three “rules” that I’m trying to follow with this list and they are there just to make it have more variety:
1. Try not to repeat a movie more than once.
2. Try to have two listings that aren’t individual scenes per post.

Also, Nicolas Cage missed the cut this time…I’m as devastated as all of you.
